Entries are also taken on the day before the race at Collegians Club between 14h00 and 17h00, and on race day from 04h30 to 06h00 at Midmar Dam. The entry fee does not include the fee to enter the Midmar Dam resort.

| Route Description: |
Route Type: Out and back
This is a beautiful figure-of-eight route that follows the edge of the Midmar Dam for most of the race. It is moderately challenging with a few hills. About a third of the route is on a gravel road through the game park.

| Prizes and Give-Aways: |
| The first 10 finishers in the marathon win gold medals. The next 15 finishers win silver medals and all other finishers who make the cut-off win bronze. An incentive prize is also offered to the first man and woman to break a record in the marathon. There are also lucky-draw prizes up for grabs. |

| Editor's Notes: |
The marathon and 32-kilometre races have a 05:00 cut-off. Walkers are welcome to participate in the 15-kilometre event which has a 03:00 cut-off. Arrive early to avoid congestion at the entrance to the dam. Midmar Dam is 30 kilometres north of Pietermaritzburg. Accommodation is plentiful in this attractive area. Make a special weekend of it.
