| Entry Details: |
Although the organisers prefer pre-entries, late entries for the full distance of 73.3 kilometres will be accepted at a premium. Pre-entries close 27 February 2010 and the first 300 entrants receive a goodie bag and a towel.
Registration and late entries for the full distance, the marathon, half marathon, 10-kilometre event and fun run are completed at Umuzi Lodge on the Friday from 17h00 and Saturday morning from 04h30. Postal and faxed entries are accepted, and must be accompanied by confirmation of payment in the form of a bank deposit slip. Entries will be confirmed either by e-mail or sms.
Athletes who complete 15 or more 3-in-1’s enjoy free entry.
It is not compulsory to run all three races. You can run any one or a combination.

| Route Description: |
Route Type: Circular Marathon and Half Marathon: Both courses present a reasonably moderate challenge. No doubt the Highveld has a special crisp autumnal appeal at this time of the year; the cosmos a soft pastel backdrop to a race that is sublime. So prepare for a treat along the ‘green strips’ of suburban Secunda.
It is the closing stretch that will leave you breathless; it is this final run-in to the Lake Umuzi Waterfront that runners speak of. It is beautiful; here is where the Kosmos becomes legend.
10-Kilometre Race: The race is fast, flat and very easy. As you come down the last stretch onto the Lake Umuzi Waterfront, those who braved the full distance of the marathon and the half marathon, will see glowing in the setting sun, fires for the after race braai and you'll know you have had a good day.

| Editor's Notes: |
The Lake Umuzi Kosmos Marathon has been ranked by the Runner’s World race judges as a well organised and well presented event. Since the initiation of their ranking system, it has been voted as one of South Africa’s top five marathons. In 2007 it was regarded as South Africa’s third best marathon and was voted as the fourth best race overall. The 10 kilometre event featured in the rankings as well and was voted as the best 10 kilometre race in the country in 2007.
The objective of the three-race series is to run all three distances on the same day: a total of 73.3 kilometres. This is a good way to get your long run in for the Comrades.
The 73.3 kilometre records are held by Sipho Ngomane in 04:13:29 and Thuli Mbatha in 05:45:23 both in 2007.
The race will be run for the 18th time in 2010. Past competitors have included Thompson Magawana, Charl Mattheus and Nick Bester. In recent years, 1996 Olympic gold medallist Josiah Tugwane and 2005 Comrades winner Sipho Ngomane have become regulars.
There are outstanding medical facilities and roadside assistance on the day. The Highveld Medi-clinic, local physiotherapists, doctors and ER24 are out in full force. The water points are manned by local businesses that compete for the best water point of the day. This ensures an exceptional standard. After the race, fires are lit for a "bring and braai" at the finishing line.
Finishers: 1452 Time Limit: 05:30 |
