Route Description:
Route Type: Circular
Apart from the fact that it is a perfect time of the year for a race, just before the big ultra races in South Africa, it will provide something of interest to all involved. The 42.2 km race will provide runners with the opportunity to meet with the fresh morning breeze and to encounter some game on the way that leads through the shaded streets of Polokwane. Runners will moreover face a steep hill followed by a 8 km descending hill to the end. All walkers are welcome to participate.

Was:
This race is run in and around the shades streets on the outskirts of Polokwane. The marathon provides some challenge in the form of ‘one of those’ grinding hills near the end. The good news is that this is followed by an easy eight kilometre canter to the finish. The event is characterised by fresh morning breezes and the possibility of game sightings.

Prizes and Give-Aways:
All category winners get gold medals, the next 30 men and women win silver, and all other finishers get bronze medals. The first male and female walkers across the finish line win cash prizes. All finishers in the fun run receive badges. The first 100 entrants for the marathon also receive T-shirts.

Course Records:
Name Time Year
Men P.J. Kekana 02:25:08 2002
Women C. Moller 03:24:28 2002

Editor's Notes:
Because of the time of year, heat can be a factor. The organisers are aware of this and consistent with their high level of organisation keep the watering tables well stocked.
Finishers: 850 Time Limit: 04:45
