Route Description:
Route Type: Circular
The course winds along a tarred road through the scenic hills and valleys of the Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, and finishes at the Kareekloof picnic resort. The organisers promise a tough but unusual run, as a variety of animals can be spotted along the way. This course is always challenging but rewarding with excellent pre-Comrades hills to negotiate. This race has been described as "not for the faint-hearted" by participants.

Prizes and Give-Aways:
All prize winners receive gold medals. All finishers in both the 10-kilometre and the ultra marathon races win silver medals, and the first 500 entrants in the ultra marathon receive T-shirts.

Course Records:
Name Time Year
Men J. Teffo 03:13:06 2006
Women E. Tebitt 04:06:48 2006

Editor's Notes:
The race takes you away from the demands of urban traffic as only official organisers' vehicles are allowed along the route. A number of clubs are using the event as a pre-Comrades long run because of its timing on the calendar. The route offers everything Comrades has and possibly a little more!

Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve is undergoing a major revamp. The original facility catered for hikers and naturalists only. Renovations are now under way to include a 76-bed chalet complex, restaurant and swimming pool. The reserve also has mountain biking and 4x4 trails, horse riding and game drives. The 10-kilometre race starts at 07h00.
Finishers: 812 Time Limit: None
