This route provides a nicely balanced challenge that is relatively easy and scenic. The run from Old Ed’s down to the Melrose bird sanctuary is pleasant. From there you will have to work a little harder as you climb to the Wanderers Stadium, across Melrose and on to River Road in Killarney. The race then crosses the M1 and heads back into leafy Houghton. The final run is gently downhill all the way to the finish.
