This is a pre-entry race only closing before 12h00 on 7 May 2020. Race numbers can be collected at Newlands Fire Base, Newlands Forest, Union Avenue at the following dates and times: Friday, 8th May, 14h00 – 19h00 Saturday, 9th May, 09h00 – 13h00
Starting from Gardens Tech Rugby Club, with a short section of tar, the route consists of jeep tracks and gravel single tracks on the lower slopes of Table Mountain, with stunning views of early morning Cape Town as you run along the contour path. The 20km route climbs over the Devils peak saddle for even more impressive views.
Walkers will be allowed on the 10 kilometre race. This is the 16th edition of the VWS Trail Challenge and is in support of volunteer wildland firefighters of Volunteer Wildfire Services. It is our largest and most important fundraiser of the year, and certainly ensure we remain operational for the fire season and allow us to train our dedicated volunteers. The entire day is put on by our volunteers from all aspects of the race, and they will be there to cheer runners at all stages, help shuttle runners from parking areas, man the water stations, are the qualified medics and just generally cheer you on as thanks for your support.
